Why so crap Dan Savage?
And the Savage strikes again:

Why Dan Savage thinks asexuals are trying to ruin sexuals lives

Some days it feels as though he's on some sort of vendetta against aces. Some days I just think he's a moron.

It's really maddening how little he understands asexuality - but also how little sympathy he shows for people who have less sexual desire. He's right that people should have conversations about their level of sexual desire and comptability, etc, but why does it have to get wrapped up in notions of normality? How much desire is 'normal' sexual desire? Shouldn't people who have sexual desire also be held accountable for not having these conversations with their partners? Ugh.

When people just fail to understand asexuality I usually don't mind. Sex doesn't really make sense in their head so I can understand why not having would be confusing for a lot of people. But the fact that he's having a go at less sexual people in general is just nasty. It's okay to not understand something but that doesn't mean you get to drag it through the mud.

Shouldn't people who have sexual desire also be held accountable for not having these conversations with their partners? Ugh.
I really wish that we didn't live in a world where sex is an expectation in relationships. I wish that every couple would sit down and check what's okay with their partner because not every sexual wants to partake in every sexual activity and it shouldn't be assumed that compliance is the norm.

I am not even going to bother reading it because his opinion has no bearing on my life.

I wish I could think like that but when someone who is meant to be so top-notch at dealing with sexuality goes and says these things it makes me wonder how we'll ever get anywhere with awareness. I'd probably be a much happier person if I didn't though! :P
